15th MUSE consortium meeting in Warsaw, September 25-27, 2007
More than 90 people attended the consortium meeting hosted by Telekom Poland. The first evaluation results from the lab trials at the operator sites were reported. Discussions on network architecture, first mile, and residential gateway are converging to a consensus.

Some recent public deliverables

"Specification of an advanced, flexible, multi-service residential gateway" (ref. DTF3.3)
It addressess an advanced multi-play residential gateway for use in an IP based managed network. It pays special attention to the support of FMC (Fixed Mobile Convergence) use cases like co-located hotspot. A block diagram of the RGW is described. Basic user types are defined in an FMC environment, and the functionality for giving them access and appropriate QoS are specified. Specific functions needed for the RGW in an IMS environment are described.

"Resilience aspects in XL-PONs" (ref. DE2.6)
It addresses the resilience aspects of XL-PON (eXtra Large Passive Optical Network), especially focusing on the protection with two geographically separated head-ends. This work tackles the necessary actions in the PON to achieve an automated failure recovery. It proposes different ways of triggering the protection switching and five ways of interconnecting the two head-ends so the information needed for a fast recovery can be shared.
