Abstract:
New
functions embedded in the access architecture are described to improve the
deployment and Quality of Experience (QoE) of multimedia services. After
definition of QoE and flow concept, generic enablers for monitoring and
deep packet inspection are introduced. Distribution of Session Border
Controller functions is proposed for a more scalable and secure deployment
of conversational multimedia service. Methods for lawful interception are
analysed. Two approaches to improve the QoE of video services, Forward
Error Correction and retransmissions, are compared.
